Hit-and-run auto accident kills Massachusetts pedestrian

Victims and families of victims of drunk driving accidents should understand that options may be available to protect them following an auto accident. A series of fatal hit-and-run and pedestrian accidents in a Massachusetts' community an hour southeast of Worcester have claimed the lives of multiple victims. Most recently, a 26-year old woman was killed. A 53-year old woman was arrested following the woman's death. The driver was charged with drunken driving causing serious injury, negligent operation of a motor vehicle and leaving the scene of an accident. Authorities noted additional charges are possible following the 26-year old pedestrian's death.

Air National Guard member killed in motorcycle crash

Motorcycle accidents can cause significant harm to victims and their families. An accident between two cars and a motorcycle recently killed a motorcycle rider, who was a member of the Air National Guard, in a nearby community in Massachusetts. The motorcycle accident occurred near an intersection. Occupants of the vehicles were transported to the hospital but reportedly did not have serious injuries. Officials from multiple law enforcement agencies are investigating the cause of the fatal motorcycle accident.

How serious is distracted driving?

Distracted driving frequently comes up as an important topic in today's society. This may cause some people to wonder just how serious a concern distracted driving is. According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), nine people are killed each day and more than 1,000 are injured in car crashes each day involving distracted drivers, in the United States. More than 3,300 people were killed and about 387,000 people were injured in crashes that involved a distracted driver in 2011 alone. The CDC also reports that in 2010, 18 percent of injury crashes were the result of distracted drivers. The U.S. Department of Transportation reports that in 2011, 10 percent of fatal crashes were distracted-driver related.

Motorcyclist injured while passenger vehicle driver flees

Motorcycle accident victims may receive help facing various challenges following a motorcycle collision. In a neighboring community an hour-and-a-half southeast of Worcester, a motorcyclist had to be transported to the hospital following a collision between a passenger vehicle and the motorcycle. The driver of the passenger vehicle fled the scene of the accident. Although a man was picked up by police at a nearby business with serious injuries, police did not confirm that the man was the driver of the passenger vehicle that fled. Police are investigating the motorcycle collision.

Driver turns self in after fatal Massachusetts motorcycle crash

Under the law, family members of victims have different options to consider following a fatal accident. A recent motorcycle accident that occurred in a neighboring community southeast of Worcester left a motorcyclist dead. Initially a hit-and-run accident, the 26-year old driver of the other vehicle involved in the motorcycle collision turned himself in to police the day following the accident. The 36-year old victim was riding his motorcycle when he was struck by the 26-year old driver and killed. The driver has been charged with leaving the scene of a fatal accident and motor vehicle homicide.

Massachusetts man killed in motorcycle collision

A 49-year-old man was recently killed in a motorcycle collision with a car in Pittsfield, Massachusetts. The fatal motorcycle crash occurred at an intersection when a 31-year old woman driving a passenger car, while going south, attempted to turn east and collided with the motorcycle. The motorcycle accident victim was taken to a hospital where he died from his injuries. It was not immediately clear if the driver of the car would receive a citation for the accident.
