The causes of commercial truck accidents

On Behalf of | Jun 13, 2019 | Truck Accidents

There is a reason why motorists see large trucks on the roadways. The trucking industry is heavily relied on when it comes to shipping goods for individuals and businesses. While there are many economic benefits from the trucking industry, there are also many risks associated with these massive vehicles traveling short and long distances on the highways and interstates across the nation. Truck drivers and trucking companies could make mistakes or act negligently. This could ultimately cause a serious or even fatal truck actcident.

Although both truck drivers and motorists of passenger vehicles could cause truck accident, there are three main causes of commercial truck accidents that are caused by either truck drivers or a trucking company. The first is inadequate training with regards to driving techniques, defensive driving and safety measures. If a trucking company fails to provide their drivers with proper training, they could face liability following a truck accident.

The second reasons is when a system of compensation is established. This means that truck drivers are encouraged to drive their rig faster and drive more continuous hours than they are allowed. Such acts are violations of federal trucking regulations, and could place liability on both truck drivers and the trucking company that is encouraging this through compensation. The final cause is when unrealistic schedules and expectations are implemented. This then encourages truck drivers to travel fast, despite the safety risks associated with it.

The aftermath of a truck accident can be devastating, which is why it is important for victims to understand what caused the incident and what legal recourses they might have. A personal injury action helps shine a light on the cause of the truck crash. This can also help with proving liability, and ultimately assist with the recovery of compensation. The losses and damages following a truck accident can be grave, and it is often necessary to seek a monetary award to cover medical bills, lost wages and other damages.
