Motorcycle accidents can cause a variety of damages to victims. Two motorcyclists were recently taken to the hospital following a collision with a car. The motorcycle driver, 73, and his passenger, 70, both from a neighboring community, were taken to the hospital following the motorcycle accident. The accident occurred when the couple was traveling east and a passenger vehicle, driven by a 70-year old man, pulled out in front of them. The motorcycle hit the rear of the passenger vehicle and slid onto its side. The injuries the couple suffered were not described as life-threatening.
Motorcycle accidents, for motorcycle riders, can occur without warning. This is because in two out of three motorcycle accidents the passenger vehicle involved in the accident failed to observe the motorcycle, violating its right of way and causing the accident. Motorcycle accident victims may then face significant damages following the unexpected motorcycle collision. While not all motorcycle accident victims will face catastrophic injuries (some will), medical expenses, lost wages and other types of damages may begin to accumulate.
Because of this, motorcycle accident victims are able to bring a claim for damages against the party that is responsible and at fault in the accident. This party is commonly referred to as the negligent driver and the negligent driver may be required to compensate the victim for lost wages, medical expenses, lost earning capacity and pain and suffering damages. Damages will, of course, depend on the nature of the injuries suffered.
The harm suffered in a motorcycle accident can sometimes be ongoing. Because of the varied nature of the damages motorcycle accident victims may suffer, victims are able to bring a claim for compensation of damages suffered against the negligent party.
