Worcester car accident leaves driver, passenger seriously injured

On Behalf of | Feb 7, 2013 | Car Accidents

Recently, a crash in Worcester left two people with injuries. The car accident, which occurred in the late evening hours, left the driver’s vehicle overturned on the side of the roadway. Both men in the car — the driver and the passenger — were taken to area hospitals.

The 21-year-old driver was believed to have sustained critical injuries, while the passenger’s injuries were deemed to not be life threatening. While both men look to recover, the police are working to determine what exactly caused the severe collision.

Car accident victims who sustain serious are likely to quickly realize that medical expenses can add up in a hurry. Even in single-car accidents, such as this one, a negligent driver or party can be held accountable for all the costs associated with the accident. As such, it may be beneficial to determine if it’s feasible to file a claim for damages provided by driver or the driver’s insurance company.

To recover compensation for injuries, it will be necessary for the injured victim to show that the driver was negligent. Some things that the court will look at to determine if the driver was negligent include, but are not limited to, disregarding basic traffic laws, driving recklessly, becoming distracted while driving, disregarding roadway conditions and driving under the influence of drugs or alcohol.

As the injured passenger looks to move beyond the accident, he is likely to want answers and some sense of closure. Gaining a full understanding of your rights and responsibilities can be a helpful step in that process.
