Worcester woman, 26, dies in Turnpike fatal car crash

On Behalf of | Jul 3, 2012 | Car Accidents

A 26-year-old Worcester woman has been identified as the victim of a fatal car crash that backed up traffic on the Massachusetts Turnpike for several hours Monday morning.

Authorities are not sure exactly what happened, but the car the woman was driving swerved out of its lane and then rolled several times as it approach the Interstate 84 exit. The woman’s two passengers, a 25-year-old Worcester man and a 27-year-old Millville man, were trapped in the wreckage and had to be extricated by rescue crews.

After the car crash, all three were taken to UMass Memorial Medical Center in Worcester. Medical personnel could not save the woman and she died at the hospital. Both men are expected to survive.

As we said, no one really knows for sure exactly how such a drastic accident happened. This should serve as a sobering reminder that car accidents can happen in the blink of an eye. Although only one vehicle was involved in this accident, it is far from uncommon for a car accident to involve two vehicles and for the driver of one of those vehicles to be at fault, or more at fault than the second driver.

Everyone in Massachusetts should remember that if he or she is involved in an accident and believes it to be the other driver’s fault, filing a lawsuit in the hopes of earning money to defray expenses associated with the accident is one option they have. No lawsuit is ever a guaranteed victory, but many people consider it worth pursuing.
