Unique dangers motorcyclists may encounter on Worcester roads

The feel of the open road, the wind in your hair and the sun on your face really can’t be beat. That’s why so many Worcester residents love to get out on their motorcycle and ride. Whether for primarily recreational use or when a motorcycle is a daily commuter, there are lots of reasons and ways that Worcester motorcyclists decide to ride. But what about the dangers associated with motorcyclists?

There are some unique challenges and dangers that motorcyclists face. Since motorcyclists are often left largely unprotected, the more inherent danger lies within coming into contact with other drivers. If a motorcycle accident occurs in which another vehicle comes into the path of a motorcycle, it could spell serious injuries for the motorcyclist while the person in the vehicle could remain largely untouched. Also, there are road quality concerns.

For example, if a motorcyclist is traveling the speed limit and doesn’t see a pot hole or other road hazard before it’s too late, it could be tragic ending. Even the smallest hole or object in the road could cause a motorcyclist to lose control or even to be thrown from their bike. Anytime a motorcyclist leaves their bike mid-ride, it could lead to serious injuries from the inevitable impact. It’s very possible that a negligent party could be found responsible for negligence in instances a motorcycle accident.

If this is true, then the injured party would be owed for the injuries and losses that the motorcyclist and their family suffered due to their injuries in the crash. Beyond medical expenses and loss of quality of life, there are lost wages to think about or potentially a long-term disability. These life changes shouldn’t be taken lightly. Other than being devastating news, it can be very costly and can have a ripple effect on one’s finances.
